We want to make you aware of significant updates to the Continuing Education (CE) requirements that will affect provider recertification from now until 2029. These changes, which are now in effect, are part of Virginia’s adoption of the National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) model from the National Registry of EMTs.
Key Points About the New CE Requirements:
- Effective Date: The new requirements have been implemented as of October 1, 2023.
- Transition Details: If you recertified before October 1, 2023, you will continue under the 2016 requirements until your next recertification. If you recertified on or after October 1, 2023, your CE credits will transition to meet the new 2025 requirements.
- Three Components of CE: The NCCP model divides CE into three components—National (50%), State/Local (25%), and Individual (25%).
