The Virginia Department of Health’s (VDH) Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) has announced the Spring 2026 cycle of the Rescue Squad Assistance Fund (RSAF) grant program. This competitive matching grant supports EMS agencies and nonprofit organizations in Virginia by funding essential equipment, training supplies, special projects, and priorities aligned with statewide EMS plans.
Key Dates:
- Application Period Opens: February 1, 2026
- Application Deadline: March 16, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. EST
Eligibility and Funding Categories: Eligible applicants are nonprofit licensed EMS agencies and other Virginia EMS organizations as defined in § 32.1-111.12 of the Code of Virginia. Grants can be used for:
- Establishing new EMS agencies, programs, or services.
- Expanding or improving existing EMS services.
- Replacing or purchasing new equipment.
- Developing or enhancing EMS training programs.
Application Requirements: Submissions must include:
- Itemized quotes for requested items.
- Verification of the agency’s Federal Identification Number (FIN).
- Appropriate e-signatures.
Applications are accepted only via the EMS Grant Information Funding Tool (E-GIFT). Late submissions are not considered.
Funding Restrictions: RSAF funds cannot be used for:
- Leased or lien-secured equipment or vehicles.
- Guarantees, warranties, or used items without prior approval.
- Fire suppression or law enforcement equipment.
