Peer Support

The Peer Support Committee is comprised of members of the ODEMSA Peer Support Team. The ODEMSA Peer Support Team are volunteers who provide the services described here without fee. The team is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The team is activated by calling the Virginia Emergency Operation Center (EOC).

The Committee’s objective is to provide stress management to providers and agencies throughout the ODEMSA Region. The Peer Support Team functions to mitigate stress experienced by emergency personnel, particularly in acute or critical incident stress unique to emergency services. ODEMSA is committed to maintaining a Regional Peer Support Team accredited by the Virginia Office of EMS, and to supporting other recognized Peer Support or CISM Teams in the 9,000 square-mile ODEMSA Region.

The ODEMSA Peer Support Team is available 24/7 and can be activated through the VA EOC by calling (804) 674-2400 or (800) 468-8892. The EOC will contact the ODEMSA Peer Support Administrative Coordinator who will contact you promptly.
