Course Format and Testing

AHA BLS Provider is a video-based, Instructor-led course where students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Course length varies but usually lasts approximately 3 hours. Students MUST arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the class’s scheduled start time to allow the class to start without delay. During the course, students work with the instructor to complete the skills practice and skills testing. At the end of the course, students must pass the BLS written exam with a score of 84% or higher. Please note that students are allowed to reference the BLS manual during the BLS Provider exam.

Students that successfully complete the course will receive the American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard, valid for two years. AHA cards will be processed as eCards and usually received within ten (10) days following the class via email. Students can expect to receive an email from ecards@heart.org or noreply@heart.org with a link to claim their eCard.

Student Materials

A BLS Provider Manual will be loaned to each student on the day of class. Students may opt to purchase a printed book eBook version prior to class.

Note: purchasing either book does not register you for a class.

Registration

Registration will close when all seats are filled or 72 hours prior to the start of the scheduled class.

To register, click the link below and select the available date you would like to attend.

The maximum number of students is based upon many factors, including available instructors, seating, textbooks, and training supplies. We maintain a strict 6-student to 1 instructor ratio and do no more than three students to 1 manikin but prefer to keep the ratio to 2:1 or 1:1 whenever possible.

There is a minimum number of three students to hold a class. If your CPR Course does not meet the minimum student requirement, a staff member will reach out to you.

Issues with Registration?

First, verify that the deadline to register hasn’t passed. You must register more than 72 hours from the start of class.

If that is not the issue, we recommend that you complete the form on a tablet or computer and not on a mobile device.

If you are having issues registering on a computer, please try using another web browser. Our browser testing has shown that Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox works the best for registering.

If you are still having issues registering, please contact the office for further assistance.
