Strengthen Your Skills in Geriatric Care with CIRCAA

A unique interprofessional development program designed for EMS providers and clinicians who want to lead the way in caring for aging adults with complex needs.

The Virginia Geriatric Education Center (VGEC) is now recruiting for the 2025–2026 Creating Interprofessional Readiness for Complex & Aging Adults (CIRCAA) program; a highly interactive, case-based professional development opportunity open to EMS providers in the ODEMSA region.

CIRCAA equips healthcare professionals with practical tools to improve care for older adults with complex medical and social needs. The program emphasizes team-based care using the Age-Friendly Health System’s 4Ms FrameworkMentation, Mobility, Medications, and What Matters.

Why EMS Should Participate:

EMS professionals play a critical role in supporting older adults in the community. CIRCAA offers EMS providers the chance to:

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals from a wide range of disciplines
  • Deepen clinical knowledge of geriatric care challenges
  • Complete a capstone project with support from a dedicated faculty mentor
  • Earn up to 40 hours of continuing education credit
  • Build leadership skills in interprofessional practice and system-based care

Program Details:

  • September 2025 – May 2026
  • Hybrid format: monthly virtual sessions + three in-person retreats in Richmond, VA
  • Registration fee: $1,000 (includes meals, hotel accommodations, CE credits)
  • Limited scholarships available

Who Should Apply:

CIRCAA is open to EMS providers, educators, and clinicians from both clinical and academic settings who are interested in improving outcomes for aging adults through team-based care.
